Frugal Product Review: $34 Cheap TV Stand

Welcome to the first edition of my Frugal Product Review series, where I will review various of cost-effective products and provide detailed insight into my experience using each one.

Is the $34 cheap TV stand worth your money?

The Furinno Turn-N-Tube No Tools TV Stand is perfect for those looking for an affordable, easy to put together stand that doesn’t need tools to assemble and has a sleek design.

After investing a significant amount of money on a TV, the last thing you want to do is spend even more money on a stand. Cheap TV stands get a bad rap, but the Furinno Turn-N-Tube No Tools TV Stand proves that you can get a decent product without spending a lot of money.

I wanted to write this review in the hopes that it might be helpful to someone else who is seeking a cost-effective TV stand that doesn’t look or feel cheap.

My wife nagged me to get a TV for our bedroom, so I picked up a 50″ Class V-Series LED 4K UHD Smart TV from Best Buy on sale for $299 without tax. I used Topcashback to earn an extra $6 off. And I used my Amex EveryDay Preferred Card because it comes with additional one-year warranty, and I also get 3X Membership Reward points for using it at Best Buy.

After bringing the TV home, I realized that we didn’t have a proper stand to put it on. So I went on Amazon and started looking for TV stands that could hold a 50″ TV. The cheap ones were around $60 and up. But then I found this one from Furinno for only $34 with free shipping via Amazon Prime.

This table-top stand can hold up to a 55-inch flat screen TV. It’s made of particleboard and plastic tubing and has a weight limit of 40 lbs. The rounded edge design has a slim profile. It has 4.3 out of 5 stars with over 12,000 reviews on Amazon. However, it has an F grade on Fakespot, which is somewhat concerning. But I still decided to try it out for myself.

What I liked:

  • Relatively inexpensive.
  • Easy to assemble.
  • You don’t need any additional tools to assemble.
  • It is very lightweight.
  • Rounded edge design with a slim profile.

What I didn’t like:

  • Particle board and materials may not be as durable.
  • It is not particularly tall.
  • The center shelf is short and can hold a gaming console, but it can’t hold a soundbar.
  • No cable management system.

The Assembly

A small assembly booklet is included in the box for your convince. Start with the top board first and then screw each leg in. Next, you twist the legs on the board; it’s not complicated. The four legs should be at the corner of the top board. After that, take the support beam and insert it into the provided plastic slot in the middle board. It’s helpful to have someone to help you line it up and hold it in place while you’re screwing it in. Be careful not to overdo it since the plastic legs screws are not that strong.

At this point, you can attach the feet to the bottom board. Next, flip the board over and connect it to the other two boards. You are done with the assembly at this point.

It was pretty simple to put together, and It took about 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, one of the legs was not sitting flush. However, it worked after taking it off and swapping it to a different screw slot.

Cheap TV Stand

Final Impression

Overall, the Furinno Turn-N-Tube No Tools 3D 3-Tier Entertainment TV Stand is a great cheap TV stand option that is easy to assemble and has a slim profile. If you’re looking for an affordable option that is still good quality, this is the product for you! However, if you want something sturdy and metal, you might want to spend a bit more money.

I plan to do 60 days and 120 days follow up to see how it’s holding up. So be sure to follow me on Twitter or revisit this post.
